Members of the Editorial Board of the Judiciary

Kampala. The Chief Justice  reappointed Hon. Lady Justice Lydia Mugambe as chairperson of the Judiciary Editorial Board to serve for a term of two years.

Thereappointment is to strengthen efforts to demystify the operations of thecourts. The Board was established on May 15, 2015 by the Chief Justice underoffice Instrument No. 2 of 2015.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Board which took place at the Kampala High Court, the Chief Justice commended the Editorial Board for doing a steady job.However, he noted with concern that sometimes the institution is misrepresented. "...we get a raw deal. People don't understand our procedures and judge us from a point of ignorance."

The six-member board is charged to maximize modern methods of communication including social media to promote greater public understanding of the work of the Judiciary. 

The Chief Justice reiterated the need to cleanthe image of the Judiciary. The Principal Judge, Hon. Justice Dr. YorokamBamwine, said people are yearning for information. "They [the pubic] do notknow where to go to get information about our services or processes," he said.

The duty of the six member Board is to regularly plan, review and approve the content of official positions of the Judiciary intended for the public; enhance and sustain information sharing and communication to improve public trust and confidence in the Judiciary; create general awareness about the courts in Uganda; oversee the branding of the Judiciary as well as the production of the Judiciary Insider and other publications,among other things.
